Membership implies privileges; whereas, partnership communicates doing things together for a purpose. We have chosen partnership as the word that expresses what we desire to take place between people in the church. God brings together people to be family, friends and team members in the great enterprise called the Kingdom of God. God has given to each person special gifts and abilities that fit into the great plan God has for Liberty Church to impact Alamance County and the world. We are looking for people who are willing to love and be loved, who want to be part of the solution rather than for just pointing out the problems, who wish to give their lives for something important. The first thing that needs to happen is for you to make a true "connection" with the church. This can happen in several ways.
Small Groups
Our small groups meet in homes for the purpose of building relationships that will help you grow to maturity in Christ and provide you with genuine friends with whom you can travel this journey called life. We hope you will connect with one of these as a way to get involved.
Sunday Morning Service
At 9:30 we have a pre-meeting prayer group that gathers in the conference room. Following that, refreshments are served from 10 until around 10:20. Fellowship around the Nations Cafe tables continues until 10:30, at which time we begin our worship service which lasts about an hour and a half. The dual purpose of this meeting is to worship God collectively, share testimonies, hear the teaching of God's Word and allow for the ministry of the Holy Spirit.
Prayer and Personal Ministry
On alternate Sunday evenings we dedicate an extended time to prayer and personal ministry.
Serving
Whether you are new to the church or a long-time member, there are plenty of opportunities for getting involved in serving. We encourage you to visit the Serving link to find out more.
Mobile Ministry
One very important way to fit right into the fabric of our church is to get involved with Mobile Ministry. Teams visit our target neighborhoods nearly every Saturday and Sunday. This is a great way to serve our neighbors through prayer, personal ministry and sharing the gospel. Various outreaches are done from time to time to bless the communities we serve.
Kingdom Partnership
We encourage everyone to become a member of Liberty Church. Partnership is a more formal expression of commitment. Just as we have come to see the value of formal vows in marriage over the more casual approach of simply living together, we ask people to make an intentional declaration of commitment to the church. The church firmly commits to the individual, too. We will do our utmost to help you become all you were created to be by God. We want to assure you that there is nothing "legalistic" or outside of Bible teaching in our partnership pledge or requirements. We have come to see that it is a very positive experience for all. Below is an outline of what is involved.
The Kingdom Partnership Class
Anyone who wishes to become a partner or simply explore what Liberty Church is all about needs to attend this class, which is offered periodically. We look at personal salvation, the baptism in the Spirit, church ministries and government, small groups and other topics relevant to the church and its vision and purpose. The class provides ample time for interaction and feedback. Questions are encouraged. This is a true "get to know you" time.
The Partnership Pledge
This document outlines what is expected from the person and the church. Every aspect of partnership is nothing more than what is expected of any disciple of Jesus Christ. You should read through the document to see what we mean. We wanted to keep things basic. You can view a copy by clicking here.
Public Recognition
After signing the partnership pledge, you will be publicly acknowledged and prayed for as a partner of Liberty Church at one of our Sunday Celebrations.
Six-Months Policy
It is the policy of Liberty Church to wait a minimum of six months before allowing new persons to serve in the nursery, in children's ministry or to have other teaching or ministry responsibilities in the church that will involve counseling, Bible teaching or personal ministry.
The purpose of this policy is two-fold.
First, it provides new people and the kingdom partners with a "get to know you" period free from ministry pressures. It takes time to truly know a person or a church. Paul wrote Timothy: "But you know what I teach, Timothy, and how I live, and what my purpose in life is. You know my faith and how long I have suffered. You know my love and my patient endurance." [2 Timothy 3:10 (NLT)] Such knowledge is imparted over time. Let's not be in too much of a rush to make commitments or enter into ministry.
The second reason we have this policy is to protect our children and people
from those who may not have good intentions. Research has shown that
molesters are seldom if ever willing to remain at a church for six months to
get a crack at the kids. We have put into place a variety of safeguards to
do our best to insure we have a safe and wholesome environment for our
children.
Exceptions:
If a new person is from another church with whom we have a strong ministry relationship, and it is possible to receive a good reference from that church's pastor, we may waive the six-month policy based on that endorsement. If a person is already known to the pastor or another leader, we may waive the time restriction as well. Sometimes a newer person may be allowed to work in child care under the supervision of another adult member.
