destinySunday Afternoon Bible Study

4:30 until 6 @ Destiny's Home

Destiny had a good crowd for her first Bible study last Sunday. We want to give her support as she serves the Lord by serving His Word to people from a variety of churches. Keep her and Raphael in your prayers. She plans to meet each Sunday.

Small Group Rescheduling

Sunday Nights

Just as the Apostle Paul made course adjustments as he travelled, so are we. We have decided to scale back the Sunday night Alpha group to the first and third Sundays of each month, still at 6:30 pm at the Hendeys. Carolyn Gibbs has relaunched Sunday night prayer on the second and fourth Sundays at 6:30 pm. Let's give both meetings our full support.

Pre-Easter Fast: Fasting for Fulfillment

March 4 - April 3

It's that time again: we need to seek the Lord as a church. No one I know enjoys going without food, but when we humble ourselves through fasting and dedicate what would have been dinner time to seeking the Lord, we reap amazing benefits. Jesus said that man shall not live by bread alone, but by every word that comes from the mouth of God. He said this just before breaking a forty-day fast. The purpose of the fast is to seek God for His pleasure. It is for Him first of all and for his glory. Secondly, we are fasting for fulfillment of the many promises He has made to us over the years. You can click here to read a summary of significant prophecies made to the church over the years.

We are asking each person in the church, who is physically able, to participate at some level. We have a sign up sheet that we have passed around. You can view a PDF file of this sheet by clicking here. All the dates have already been covered, but some by only one person. We would like to have multiple persons fasting and praying on each day, if possible. If you wish to join us, simply email Pastor Pete with the dates you choose. You can click here to view a list of the meditations Pastor Pete has written during our fast.

We are also reinstituting home prayer meetings during the weeks we fast. A list of the locations are below. I hope you will make time to attend one of these meetings. Please also keep a journal of what God speaks to you during the time we are fasting so you can share your insights at the prayer meetings and on Sunday mornings. You can also let Pastor Pete know what God is speaking via phone or email. Click here to download a list of prayer points to use during the fast.

Gospel Fest 2010

May 1, Winston-Salem, NC

Pastor Pete attended the first planning meeting for Gospel Fest, an inner city gospel ministry led by Pastor Carol Fulton and Children of Zion Outreach Ministries. Last year some of our people participated, and we hope for greater input this year. One way you can help is by donating groceries. The goal is to give away at least 500 bags of groceries on the event day. We have placed a large blue barrel in the hall for collections. Here are some ideas for what is needed.

canned goods - soups, chili, vegetables, fruit, meat, tuna, salmon, spaghettios, etc.

boxed and packaged goods - macaroni and cheese, rice, pastas, noodles, instant potatoes, potato mixes, rice mixes

No glass jars, repackaged or home-made goods

Nothing that will spoil
