Lord, Help Me Live for You Today
So we have continued praying for you ever since we first heard about you. We ask God to give you a complete understanding of what he wants to do in your lives, and we ask him to make you wise with spiritual wisdom. 10 Then the way you live will always honor and please the Lord, and you will continually do good, kind things for others. All the while, you will learn to know God better and better. 11 We also pray that you will be strengthened with his glorious power so that you will have all the patience and endurance you need. May you be filled with joy, 12 always thanking the Father, who has enabled you to share the inheritance that belongs to God's holy people, who live in the light. Colossians 1:9-12 (NLT)
Prayer can clarify our thinking. It is good to remind ourselves as we pray of Gods glorious character, power and purposes so that our faith can "catch up" to connect with God's Word. Here is a way to personalize the above prayer.
Abba, Father, fill us with the knowledge of your will and give us understanding and wisdom that comes from your Spirit so that we will know what to do. Help us to live in a way that is appropriate to the high calling you have given to us. Let our lives bring honor and glory to your Name. Help us to do more than just talk: rather, let us do good and show kindness to others. Give us grace today to please you in all that we do so that our lives may count for your kingdom and so we can know You better. Strengthen us by Your Spirit with all the power that comes from Your glorious might so that we can patiently endure as long as necessary. Fill us with joy and thanksgiving as we meditate upon how you have made all this possible through Your Son. Thank You for enabling us to share in His inheritance and to live in the light of Your presence! Amen.
