seeking first the Kingdom of God
Liberty
Church is in on mission with God. Our motto is "Loving God. Loving People.
Making Disciples." We want everything we do to align with the Great
Commandment to love God and our neighbors, and the Great Commission, to
go and make disciples.
Jesus described his ministry by quoting from Isaiah 61:1.
“The Spirit of the Lord is upon me, because he has anointed me to proclaim good news to the poor. He has sent me to proclaim liberty to the captives and recovering of sight to the blind, to set at liberty those who are oppressed, 19 to proclaim the year of the Lord’s favor.” Luke 4:18-19 (ESV)
As his representatives, we are here continue his ministry, as the Holy Spirit equips and empowers us. Desiring to glorify and please our heavenly Father, we embrace a kingdom lifestyle and message and focus on making disciples, being a welcoming community, and engaging in caring, compassionate service.
Pastoring Neighborhoods
Through something we call Mobile Ministry, we have found that we have been able to pastor neighborhoods. Many in our community do not attend church either because they are not believers or because of some other reason. Our church targets those who do not yet believe in our Lord or who are not currently part of a local church. Through Mobile Ministry, we bring the ministry of the church to these people where they live, showing them that the church cares about them without asking for anything in return.
Networking Mobile Churches
To make it easier for unchurched people to gather with believers, once a month we meet in various locations throughout the area over the weekend. We may meet in restaurants, parks, homes, or wherever a group may choose that works for them. We have learned that church buildings are somewhat non-essential. People are what matter to God, and Mobile Church is our attempt to put people first as we engage in God's called out missional people - the church.
Restoring Lives
In addition to being communities in which Christ's presence and love are experienced, we encourage our folks to be involved in caring and compassionate ministry to the poor, the hurting, the oppressed, the overlooked, and the brokenhearted. We are committed to serving Christ by serving the "least of these." Our gospel cannot be understood merely as some sort of faith transaction that keeps us out of hell if it never propels us out into the world of pain and need.
We
partner with other ministries who are
serving in this way. Some of our partners
are or have been The Caring Kitchen, Piedmont Men of Steel,
Sustainable Alamance, and Steel Magnolias. We are always looking for
ministry partners with whom we can invest our lives, money, and time.
